And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and , as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down, And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
And he said unto them, ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself. whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy
So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest, but he that said unto him, "Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee".
As he saith also in another place, "Thou art a Priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
Who in the days of his flesh when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared, though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered.
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him
Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 5:5-10
And they, truly were many priest, because they were not allowed to continue by reason of death; But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Wherefore, he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
For such an high priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.
Who needed not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins and then for the people's for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
For the law maketh men high priest who have infirmity, but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. Hebrews 7:23:-28
Now of the things which we have spoken that is the sum:
We have such an high priest, who is seated on the right hand of the throne of the majesty in the heavens.
A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices wherefore, it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law.
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. Hebrews 8:1-4:6
Thou madest him a litter lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honor, and didst set him over the works of thy hands.
Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him, But now we see not yet all things put under him.
But we see Jesus, who was made a littler lower than the angels for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that he, by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
For it became him, for whom all things, and by whom all all things, in bringing many souls sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Forasmuch, then, as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil.
And deliver them who, through fear of death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him nature of angels, but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
Wherefore, in all things it behooved him to be made like his breathren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. for in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to help them that are tempted.
